Discovered near Yekaterinburg, a city set in the foothills of Russia’s Ural Mountains, the Ural Rex was carefully developed over three decades. Now highly regarded among Russian cat fanciers, it is also gaining popularity in Germany. This breed possesses a fine, dense, double coat that may be short or semi-long. Its distinctive, close-lying waves, which have a resilient, elastic texture, take up to two years to develop fully. Grooming is simple but must be done regularly. The Ural Rex is a quiet, good-natured cat and an excellent household companion.
