Place of Origin-Turkey/UK(modern breed)
Longhairs
Weight : Weight-7–19lb (3–8.5kg)
The ancestors of this breed, named after Turkey’s Lake Van region, may have existed for centuries across the Middle East. However, the modern Turkish Van was developed in the UK in the 1950s, with breeding cats later exported to various countries, although they remain rare. Not an ideal choice for those seeking a calm lap cat, the Turkish Van is spirited and playful, thriving on interactive games, especially when family members join in. Many of these cats also have a fascination with water, with some even reputed to be confident swimmers.
