Originating from Kenya’s coastal Arabuko Sokoke Forest, this remarkable tabby was discovered in the late 1970s. A British Kenyan resident took in two feral kittens with distinctive markings and began breeding them. Sokokes were later introduced to Europe and the US, and additional bloodlines were established in the 21st century. The modern Sokoke incorporates traits from both the Old and New Lines. These cats form strong family bonds, and some display an innate ability to vocalize with their owners. Remaining fairly active beyond kittenhood, they take pleasure in playing games.
