Designed to resemble the serval, a small wild cat native to the African grasslands, the Serengeti was first bred in California in the mid-1990s. Now also found in Europe and Australia, this breed was created by crossing a Bengal with an Oriental. With its long legs, slender neck, and upright posture, the Serengeti stands apart from other breeds. Its most distinctive feature is its exceptionally large ears, which are the same length as its head. Agile and fond of climbing, the Serengeti enjoys high places. It bonds deeply with its owner and is an excellent companion for someone who spends a lot of time at home.
