One of the newest cat breeds, the Savannah was officially recognized in 2012. It originated from an accidental mating between a male serval—a wild cat of the African plains—and a domestic cat. Retaining many physical traits of its serval parent, the Savannah is known for its striking spotted coat, long legs, and large, upright ears. However, it is best known for its personality. This energetic and adventurous cat is always looking for amusement, whether playing in water, exploring cupboards, or opening doors. The Savannah can be quite demanding, making it unsuitable for first-time cat owners.
