The Ragdoll’s name is fitting, as few cats are as easygoing or eager to be held. One of the largest cat breeds, its origins are somewhat unclear. The breed is said to have developed from a litter of kittens born in California that displayed an unusual trait—becoming completely limp when picked up. Affectionate and friendly, Ragdolls enjoy human company, get along well with children, and usually tolerate other pets. Not particularly agile, these cats prefer gentle play over high-energy antics. Their soft, silky coats require only moderate grooming to remain tangle-free.
