Tabby Persians boast a longer history than many other Persian variations. Brown tabbies were present at some of the earliest UK cat shows in the 1870s, and one of the first pedigree cat clubs was founded to promote them. Over time, the breed has developed in several colors, with three recognized pattern types: classic (or blotched), mackerel (with narrow streaks), and spotted. Patched Tabbies, also referred to as tortie tabbies, feature tabby markings over a bicolor base coat.
