In the Smoke Persian's coat pattern, each hair starts pale at the base and gradually darkens along its length. At birth, Smoke kittens show no visible signs of their distinct coloring, which begins to emerge only after several months. These cats were documented as early as the 1860s but have remained uncommon. By the 1940s, the breed had nearly vanished. Thankfully, dedicated enthusiasts persisted in developing the Smoke Persian, rekindling interest and expanding the breed’s color variations.
