About

Widely regarded by cat fanciers as one of the most glamorous Persian color variations, this version was developed in the 1950s by crossing Smoke and Tortoiseshell longhairs. The fur of a Cameo is primarily white, with color—most commonly a shade of red—appearing at the ends of the hair shafts to varying degrees. In the "tipped" variety, coloration is limited to just the tips of the hairs, while in "shaded" cats, the color extends up to a third of the way down each hair shaft. As the cat moves, the Cameo’s coat gives the illusion of changing hues.
