Shorthairs
Weight : Weight-9–14lb (4–6.5kg)
In the 1950s, breeders developed solid-colored Oriental Shorthairs by crossing Siamese cats with other shorthaired breeds to remove the typical Siamese colorpoint pattern. The earliest Oriental Shorthairs had rich dark brown coats and were known as Havanas. Over time, these cats were used in the US to establish a separate breed. Decades of additional selective breeding introduced a broad variety of solid colors to the Oriental Shorthair, beginning with a lighter brown shade called lavender in the US and lilac in the UK.
