Place of Origin-Norway
Longhairs
Weight : Weight-7–20lb (3–9kg)
Cats have been present in Scandinavia since the Viking era, valued for their role in controlling pests in homes and villages. Although the Norwegian Forest Cat cannot trace a direct lineage to these early felines, as it was only fully developed in the 1970s, its traits closely resemble those of cats that have roamed Norwegian farms for centuries. This stunning breed boasts a long, double-layered coat that provides natural insulation against harsh northern winters, thickening significantly in colder months as the undercoat reaches its peak density. Surprisingly, despite this seasonal transformation, additional winter grooming is not required, though shedding in spring can be substantial.
