Place of Origin-Kuril Islands, North Pacific
Shorthairs
Weight : Weight-7–10lb (3–4.5kg)
The Kurilian Bobtail, native to the Kuril Islands stretching between Siberia and the North Pacific, gained domestic popularity in mainland Russia during the 20th century. Since the 1990s, both longhaired and shorthaired varieties have become regular features at Russian cat shows, though they remain relatively unknown elsewhere. The breed’s distinct bobbed tail, a natural mutation, varies in shape from cat to cat, forming bends, curls, or kinks. Kurilian Bobtails are friendly and relaxed, yet they maintain an exceptional reputation as skilled mousers.
