Shorthairs
Weight : Weight- 6–11lb (2.5–5kg)
Though this cat resembles the long-bodied, spotted cats depicted in Ancient Egyptian tomb paintings, it does not have a direct lineage to them. The modern Egyptian Mau was developed when Russian princess Natalie Troubetzkoy, in exile, imported several spotted Egyptian cats from Italy to the US in 1956. For many years, the number of breeding cats remained limited, but new imports in the late 20th century revitalized the gene pool. While affectionate, Maus can also be shy and sensitive, requiring careful socialization early on. They are likely best suited to experienced cat owners, but once bonded with a family, they remain devoted for life.
