Designed specifically for its striking color variations, this breed originated during the 1940s and 50s through an initial cross between a Siamese and a red tabby American Shorthair. If not for its diverse color range, the Colorpoint Shorthair would be indistinguishable from the Siamese, as it shares the same elongated body, slender head, large ears, and brilliant blue eyes. Highly intelligent, social, and vocal, this cat thrives on attention. The Colorpoint Shorthair flourishes in a lively household and is ill-suited for owners who are frequently away.
