The precise origins of this ancient French breed remain a subject of debate. First named in the mid-18th century, the Chartreux has been linked to the Carthusian monks, famed for producing the renowned Chartreuse liqueur, although no evidence confirms they ever kept woolly-coated blue cats. With a calm, undemanding nature and a soft voice, this breed is an unobtrusive yet affectionate companion. It enjoys peaceful play and, on occasion, bursts into energetic hunting-mode activity.
