Named after its native land (modern-day Sri Lanka), the Ceylon was introduced to Italy in the early 1980s, where the breed was refined. Though not as widely recognized as other breeds, it has gained some popularity in Italy. With its sandy coloring and beautifully ticked coat, the Ceylon resembles the Abyssinian, but the two breeds are unrelated. A distinctive “cobra mark” on its forehead is particularly valued. Breeders appreciate its responsive and friendly disposition.
