The British Shorthair Colorpoint is the most recent variation of the breed, officially recognized only in 1991. Developed through experimental breeding, this unusual cat combines the British Shorthair’s sturdy build with the Siamese’s striking pointed coat pattern. Various appealing color variations have been introduced, and like the Siamese, all types feature striking blue eyes, although the breed’s robust structure and round face remain unchanged. Due to the similarity in name, the British Shorthair Colorpoint is sometimes mistakenly confused with the American breed called the Colorpoint Shorthair, which has an Oriental-type physique.
