Place of Origin-Myanmar(Burma)/France
Longhairs
Weight : Weight-6–9lb (4.5–8kg)
With its striking color points, the Birman resembles a longhaired Siamese, though they are not believed to be closely related. According to an enchanting legend, Birmans descended from sacred white cats kept by priests in Myanmar (Burma), their distinctive coloring granted by divine intervention. In reality, the breed likely originated in France in the 1920s, possibly from foundation cats imported from Myanmar. Strongly built and long-bodied, the Birman has a silky coat that resists matting, making it easier to maintain than many longhaired breeds.
